Drake Cancels Remaining Australia and New Zealand Shows Due to ‘Scheduling Conflict’

Share

Rapper Drake has announced the cancellation of the remaining four shows of his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia and New Zealand, citing a “scheduling conflict”. The shows affected are in Brisbane (March 4), Sydney (March 7), and Auckland (March 15 and 16). This marks the end of a 16-show tour that started on February 4.

In a statement released to Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Drake’s representative confirmed the cancellation, apologizing for any inconvenience caused and assuring fans that efforts were being made to reschedule the dates. Ticket holders can either hold onto their tickets for the rescheduled performances or opt for a refund.

Tour Update and Scheduling Details

The canceled shows were meant to be the last performances of the tour, which had already seen successful concerts in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. However, some fans had noticed that tickets for these shows had sold out unexpectedly, which led to speculation before the official announcement.

Drake’s representative noted that they are actively working on new dates, with ticket holders being updated once the rescheduling is confirmed. If fans wish to get refunds, they can do so through Ticketek‘s website.

Tour Backdrop and Controversies

This tour marked Drake’s first Oceania tour since 2017. However, its conclusion comes amidst some drama surrounding his ongoing feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, which has escalated in recent months. The feud hit new heights with Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us,” which accused Drake of serious allegations, resulting in a lawsuit filed by Drake for defamation.

While in Australia, Drake performed new music from his album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, a collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR. The album, which features several references to Lamar, debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 charts.

Fans of Drake are left hoping that the rapper’s team will soon confirm the rescheduled dates and bring the tour to a satisfying close for those waiting in the two affected cities.
